Our classrooms include three educators and 18 children ranging in age from three to five years, creating a teacher to student ratio of one to six. This unique feature ensures that our teachers can work with individual children, small and large groups, providing educational opportunities that are intentional, memorable and effective.

    Position Description

    Brown Fox Point Early Childhood Education Center seeks an outstanding preschool teacher to join its dynamic educational team.

    Brown Fox Point is a NAEYC-accredited, BrightStars five-star rated preschool program committed to research-based instructional practices, an anti-bias emergent curriculum and strong relationships with families.

    Our classrooms include three educators and 18 children ranging in age from three to five years, creating a ratio of 1:6. This unique feature ensures that our teachers can work with individual children, small and large groups, providing educational opportunities that are intentional, memorable, and effective.

    Our staff provide a warm, nurturing, respectful, safe, and caring environment, fostering the children’s self-concept and independence. The objective of our special approach is to have children who are resilient, independent, who know how to think - not just what to think, can problem solve, can resolve conflicts, and demonstrate respect for themselves, others, and the environment.

    Requirements

    A bachelor’s degree in ECE or a related field required and a minimum of two years of preschool experience.

  • Brown Fox Point Early Childhood Education Center seeks outstanding preschool substitute teachers to join its education team as per diem staff.

    Brown Fox Point is a NAEYC-accredited, BrightStars five-star preschool, committed to research-based instructional practices, an anti-bias, emergent curriculum and strong relationships to our diverse families. Substitute Teachers provide a warm, nurturing, respectful, safe and caring environment where children’s self-concept and independence are enhanced, supporting children’s needs and the maintenance of the environment in a responsive manner.

    They work with individual children and small groups; they assist with supervision both indoors and outdoors. Brown Fox Point is a caring, diverse environment that respects all members of our community.

  • Brown Fox Point is actively seeking Board Members on a rolling basis to help steward our organization, which has provided a high quality full-day preschool program for 50 years to  families that live, work, or study in our community.

    Formed by Brown University and the Fox Point Neighborhood Association as a child care cooperative, we incorporated as an  independent non-profit agency in 1979. Located in Providence, the Center has four mixed-age preschool classrooms that strive to serve families who represent the racial, ethnic, linguistic, socio-economic and familial diversity of our community. The Center currently uses an anti-bias curriculum and part of our strategic plan is to define and deepen our understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion  as an organization and community. 

    With an  annual budget of $1.1 million and maximum enrollment of 72 students, the Center seeks board members committed to upholding the core values of the organization and ensuring that children are respected, engaged and guided to think, reason, question, and learn.

    We are especially interested in diverse candidates that reflect the racial, ethnic, linguistic, socio-economic, and familial diversity of our community in Providence. We are seeking applicants with experience, broadly defined, in any of the following areas:

    • Financial management for non-profits (critical need)

    • Human Resources Management

    • Childhood health and wellness

    • Marketing

    • Technology

    Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

    • Follow the Brown/Fox Point Guiding Principles of trust, transparency, and honesty

    • Support the growth of the organization and culture by continually evolving and learning

    • Develop collaborative relationships with the Executive Director and other members of the Board of Directors

    • Serve on board committees as determined in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board President

    • Attend monthly board meetings

    • Oversee financial stability of the organization
